Craig Gordon believes that Celtic are already feeling the impact of Brendan Rodgers on the club.

After a storming first season in Glasgow the former Hearts keeper looked less assured last term without the defensive partnership of Jason Denayer and Virgil van Dijk.

Expectations have risen sky high since Rodgers was appointed to replace Ronny Deila with Gordon pleased with the signs from the training ground and the two matches played so far.

Since the gaffer has come in, the technical information he has been putting over in how he wants to play, and the tactical aspects of the game he has tried to put in place already in training have been great to see,” the keeper told the Celtic website.

We have really enjoyed looking at that side of it and how we can improve – he is always looking to improve in every training session on something and hopefully we can continue doing that.”

Gordon took over from Logan Bailly at half-time during the 1-0 win over Sturm Graz with the first Champions League qualifier just over a week away.

Pre-season defeats are generally great work-out’s because it’s all about fitness at this stage or moral boosting victories with Gordon happy with the outcome of yesterday’s match.

It’s a good win and a clean sheet which doesn’t often happen in friendly matches so we have to take the positives from that,” he added.

It’s probably quite unusual for me to have played two friendlies already at this stage as normally I have to wait to later in pre-season to get games.

It’s been good, I feel fine and my body is holding up pretty well through all the training sessions we have been doing and the games we have had as well.”
