Brendan Rodgers insists that Celtic won’t be panicked into signing players.

The new hoops boss has only signed Moussa Dembele since taking over from Ronny Deila.

Anthony Stokes, Carlton Cole, Colin Kazim Richards and Stefan Scepovic have all moved on as Rodgers attempts to trim his squad and bring in quality.

If Celtic get past Lincoln Red Imps tonight they will be back in action next Tuesday or Wednesday in the third qualifying round with the hoops boss confident of bringing in at least one new player for that round with the signing deadline at midnight on Thursday.

Ideally, we would want to try and at least have one more in by the deadline,” Rodgers stated. “Is it realistic? I would hope so. It won’t be the fault of this club if not.

The club are looking to do everything they can to support my needs and what I want. I want it now but it doesn’t always work out that way. The market is slow due to the types of players I want to bring in.

I don’t want a player, I want the right player who can give us quality but it’s always about availability, affordability and timing.”

With no sign of Dedryck Boyata or Jozo Simunovic getting close to fitness it seems certain that a central defender will be Rodgers signing priority with Shane Duffy or Kolo Toure the most likely targets.

Before they start tonight Celtic will know whether they will face Astrana or Zalgaris in the next round with those teams kicking off at 3pm Celtic Park Time.
