After the humiliation of seeing Sports Direct and other retailers selling Sevco shirts Dave King has hatched a cunning plan!

According to a report from the Press Association last night the troubled Ibrox club are considering launching a new kit by themselves in mid-season!

That’ll be the follow up to considering legal action against Sports Direct and Puma until realising that they didn’t have a leg to stand on.

In some detail the report mentions SPFL regulations about a member club changing their registered kit/colours in mid season while avoiding the real issues.

Go it alone kit manufacturers are thin on the ground for a reason. Finding a manufacturer should be possible, distribution and finding outlets other than online would be very challenging.

With a going concern warning hanging over the club from their last audited accounts it’ll take more than a few comps for an executive box to get any worthwhile company to work in partnership.

There’s a good reason why Charles Green turned to Mike Ashley and Puma- they were able to deliver quickly and competitively to get kit out on the street and establish a presence.

Attempts to run shops from Glasgow Airport and Belfast were quickly abandoned because they were costly vanity projects- Sevco punters like things cheap and cheerful- exactly what Sports Direct deliver.

Looking on from the sidelines is Mark Warburton still looking for two defenders after being turned over by Burnley last week.

As he watches the shambles of a club unfold in front of him he must look on enviously at Alan Stubbs with a steady job in The Championship, the Scottish Cup on his CV and Scott Allan on his books.
