Stefan Johansen is believed to be a transfer target of Fulham.
The Championship club recently sold Ross McCormack to Aston Villa and could tempt Celtic with a £2m offer for the midfielder.
Galatasaray have been tracking Johansen for a month but aren’t prepared to pay more than £1.5m for a player who is out of contract in 10 months time.
According to a report in The Sun, Fulham are prepared to offer Celtic the £2m that they paid Stromsgodset in 2014 for Johansen and that could bring all sides to the negotiating table.
While Tom Rogic and James Forrest have signed new deals this week there has been no report of talks with Johansen over an extended deal.
Brendan Rodgers has been impressed by the midfielder who swept the boards with the 2015 Player of the Year awards but the hoops boss recognises the reality of his contract position.
Speaking during Celtic’s pre-season trip to Slovenia he said: “This is a volatile period for players because there is uncertainty and it’s only when the stability comes and the window shuts down that you get certainty.
“I always look at players and gauge whether they are happy and want to play for the club or not.
“I have only known him this last week and a half and he has been excellent. We shall see what happens. It is speculation but he is a player I’d like to keep for sure.
“The club has to protect itself also. If a player clearly doesn’t want to be at a club and had a year to go, the market will tell you that you have to sell that player.”
Johansen missed last night’s 5-0 Betfred Cup win over Motherwell due to suspension.
