Stefan Johansen has been named in the Norway squad to face Germany on September 4.

The midfielder has dropped completely out of the picture at Celtic, failing to make the substitute bench for the matches against Hapoel Beer Sheva and St Johnstone.

Johansen has been the subject of transfer rumours linking him with moves to Fulham and Galatasaray with the international break coming after the transfer window closes.

Also included in the squad is the ghost of Champions League past Jo Inge Berget who played for Celtic against Maribor then scored for Malmo against the hoops last season.

Missing from the squad is Martin Odegaard of Real Madrid who has been selected for u-21 duty rather than face the Germans.

The 17-year-old has made little impact with the Champions League winners and is expected to be sent out on loan during the transfer window.

Discussing Odegaard Norway boss Per Mathias Hogmo said: “Martin is a player who I have very great faith. I think everyone knows. It will be interesting to see where he ends up but in this outlet we have chosen to let him play for the U21 national team.”

The squad in full: Sten Grytebust (Odense), Rune Jarstein (Hertha Berlin), Orjan Nyland (Ingolstadt), Haitam Aleesami (Palermo), Jo Inge Berget (Malmo FF), Valon Berisha (Red Bull Salzburg), Veton Berisha (Greuther Furth), Adama Diomande (Hull), Vegard Forren (Molde), Pål André Helland (Rosenborg), Markus Henriksen (AZ) Even Hovland (Nuremberg), Stefan Johansen (Celtic), Joshua King (Bournemouth), Martin Linne (Galatasaray), Havard Nordtveit ( West Ham), Martin Samuelsen (West Ham), Ole Kristian Selnæs (St. Etienne), Per Ciljan Skjelbred (Hertha Berlin), Jørgen Skjelvik (Rosenborg), Stefan Strandberg (Krasnodar), Jonas Svensson (Rosenborg), Alexander Søderlund (St . Joe McHugh has edited Video Celts since 2010, every day covering events in and around Scotland's most successful club.

When a six year stretch at the Sunday Mirror came to an end it was clear that the future was digital, print had ran its race.

Smart phones and social media created a new landscape, Video Celts has certainly made an impact with Joe described as having an unhealthy obsession by Peter Lawwell at the 2024 Celtic AGM. A priceless endorsement.

There are issues breaking around the clock, no two days are the same. More than 50 years on from his first match Joe is enjoying the ongoing successes of Celtic.
