Scott Sinclair was bowled over by his first experience of European football at Celtic Park.

The former Aston Villa forward seemed pleased enough to be involved in last week’s 5-0 Betfred Cup win over Motherwell but the win over Hapoel Beer Sheva was something entirely different.

Sinclair played a key role in the first two goals as Celtic raced into a 3-0 half time lead and knows that anything less than a three goal defeat in Israel will ensure at least three more big European nights this year.

Wednesday night’s performance certainly got the football world talking- and using social media to share their thoughts.

There was plenty of video clips posted on line as supporters shared the goals, the songs, the anthems and a brilliant second half huddle.

The hold that Brendan Rodgers has over the support is incredible with the fans looking to re-engage after the apathy of the Ronny Deila days.

During the 2-1 win over Astana there was some anxious moments among the fans that drew comment from the manager who urged the punters to show patience and trust in the team.

That wish came to fruition on Wednesday night with Rodgers delighted with the outcome.

I said before about the supporters being patient and allowing the players to play,” the Irishman recalled after the Hapoel match. “Especially in difficult moments in games and I have to say a massive thank you because I think they took a stride forward tonight in terms of understanding how we want to work.”
