As they reel from the rejection of Joleon Lescott and come to terms with grinding wins out over Dundee and Motherwell fans of the club from Ibrox were dealt another disturbing dose of reality today.

Despite the best efforts of STV Sport and others to spike the story, evidence emerged today that Sevco are indeed a new club with nothing more than an emotional likeness to the Rangers club that died in 2012 for refusing to pay Her Majesty’s Revenue and Customs.

As all sane thinking people knew Charles Green didn’t save the club, company or holding vehicle in 2012. HMRC put that notion to bed when they rejected a vague CVA put together by the big anded businessman from Yorkshire.

While the Scottish football authorities attempted to rewrite history, an opportunity denied to Airdrie and Gretna who also refused to settle with creditors, a leaked letter from UEFA to a group of Celtic shareholders spells out the reality of 2012.

The letter dismisses the notion that the secretive Five Way Agreement magically allowed a club to take on the nice bits of a dead club while trashing 276 creditors including many government departments and local authorities.

The letter explains why the new club took part in the first round of the League Cup despite the dead club finishing second in the previous seasons SPL.

It explains why the new club didn’t take part in Champions League qualifiers in 2012/13, Motherwell did.

It explains why the new club started out in the first round of the Scottish Cup away to Forres Mechanics despite the SPL clubs starting their campaign in the third round.

Don’t expect any comment from the SPFL or SFA on the leaked letter, their stance on the 2011 licence issue explains everything you need to know about their interest in legislation, fairness and a level playing field.

When the Sevco club suffers the same fate as the dead club hopefully there will be voices within the Scottish game to ensure transparency for the tribute act’s tribute act.

Scottish football fans deserve better than to have their intelligence laughed at by the clubs and administrators.
