Kenny Miller is facing an assault charge following a brawl just hours after Celtic’s 5-1 win over Sevco.

The veteran Ibrox goal ace was arrested following an incident at Da Luciano in Bothwell.

Initial reports of the incidents were kept low key and claimed that Miller’s wife, Laura, was injured in the disturbance but after a police investigation Miller has been arrested and reported to the procurator fiscal.

Speaking to The Scottish Sun a police spokesman said: “A man of 36 was arrested and is the subject of a report to the procurator fiscal.”

A crown office spokesman added: “The procurator fiscal at Hamilton has received a report concerning a 36-year-old male in connection with alleged incidents on September 10, 2016. The report remains under consideration.”

With such a focus on the behaviour of supporters Miller’s arrest will be a major embarrassment for the football authorities.

After Miller signed a new one year contract last November Mark Warburton said: “From the first day of pre-season he developed a real desire and a passion to help take the club forward and he’s made a very positive contribution both on and off the pitch.

“His seniority within the squad is very important, his knowledge and his experience are special when we have such a young squad and have recruited young players and have taken in young loan players too.

“The experience of the likes of Kenny, Dean Shiels and Lee Wallace, as captain of course, is invaluable. So he has a key role to play on and off the pitch and I am delighted to have Kenny accept this new contract offer.”
