Eight weeks after the transfer window closed it’s interesting to see how Celtic’s transfer ‘targets’ have fared.

Out of the many names linked with the club some were mentioned more often than others, mainly players with a Brendan Rodgers connection.

The Celtic boss declared himself happy with business during the transfer window even though he was unable to bring in the creative midfielder that he had hoped for.

As the recent ‘Joey Barton to Celtic’ story proved all sorts of agendas are at play during the transfer window with a new manager at any club attracting more speculation than most.

Rodgers took his time during the transfer window giving out the impression that he was in complete control while the poker hands were played out.

Signing Kolo Toure and Scott Sinclair were the key arrivals with the hoops boss getting his former players in after extended negotiating periods with neither signing particularly exciting the fans. Speculation over the mystery midfielder centered on James McCarthy who seemed to meet most of the criteria but other circumstances at Everton and an injury seemed to kill that plan stone dead.r.
