Sevco have been unable to find a solution to the Joey Barton situation.

According to a report on the BBC website the 34-year-old remains suspended on full pay despite having showdown talks at Ibrox today.

Barton arrived at 3pm wearing a smart clue suit and tie along with his agent and left an hour later without making any comment.

The former Burnley ace was told to stay away from Murray Park following a training ground incident in the wake of the 5-1 hammering from Celtic on September 10.

After speaking out about the incident Barton was put on a three week suspension which has subsequently been extended.

The fact that the player remains on full pay suggests that the club doesn’t have any grounds to take further action.

According to the BBC report: “Joey Barton remains suspended by Rangers following a meeting with Ibrox officials on Thursday.”

No statement is expected from the Ibrox club with the stalemate set to continue until the January transfer window at the earliest.

With a watertight two year contract Barton can dictate the terms of his departure or decide to stick it out continuing to pick up a salary in excess of £20,000 per week.
