Ronny Deila has been linked with the job of managing Norway’s national side.

Since losing a Euro 16 play-off to Sweden Per-Mathias Hogmo has been under pressure with Norway getting off to a nightmare start in their World Cup qualifying group.

A 3-0 home defeat from Germany followed by a 1-0 loss away to Azerbaijan leaves them floundering in Group C ahead of tomorrow’s match at home to San Marino.

With Northern Ireland and the Czech Republic making up the group the Norwegians had expected to be in with a fighting chance of finishing second and earning a play-off spot but confidence in Hogmo is at rock bottom.

Deila, Ole Gunar Solksjaer and Stale Solbakken are the three names linked with replacing Hogmo despite all three failing to succeed with UK teams.

Age Hareide is now in charge of the Danish national side after taking Malmo into the Champions League at Deila’s expense.

The former Celtic boss is due to take charge of Valerenga with Hareide in no doubt about who would be his choice to lead his national team.

Stale (Solbakken) has done a fantastic job in FCK (FC Copenhagen), Hareide told Sporten. “If he wants, Norway should take him, definitely.

The whole work he has done in FCK, brought them back again. Built this layer successively and he has been accomplished in the transfer market and built a team that is very functional and strong.”

Solbakken was in charge of Copenhagen against Celtic in the 2006 Champions League and had a six month stint in charge of Wolves in 2012.
