The Daily Telegraph dossier of corruption in football has been handed over in full to the police.

Last week the newspaper published a number of allegations about Sam Allardyce which led to the departure of the then England manager after just 67 days in the job.

The Telegraph claims that it has video evidence of eight recent Premier League managers discussing transfer bungs but have yet to publish the claims.

Last week’s stories caused alarm throughout the English game with the FA producing a statement yesterday updating the story.

The FA announced: “The police confirmed that the Daily Telegraph has now shared all relevant materials with the police alone and that a review has begun to assess any potential criminal activity.

The FA awaits an update on this review at the earliest opportunity and will not be able to access the materials while this process is continuing.

At the appropriate point, we are keen to ensure the releasing of materials from the Daily Telegraph is expedited in line with our repeated request for full disclosure.”

The Telegraph spent eight months on the story as they created fictitious foreign investors who were introduced to the game by two football agents.

With ‘billions’ to invest in the game Allardyce and others were happy to reveal insider secrets unaware that their conversations were being filmed.

Officially Allardyce left by mutual consent but after 67 days in his dream job it seems certain that the decision wasn’t taken by the former West Ham and Sunderland boss.
