It’s a real tough call, with other candidates out there as well, but who would you vote for as Celtic’s most improved player of the season?

With the first trophy of the season secured, a healthy lead in the SPFL and a 11 European matches to look back on there are plenty of issues to take account of.

There is one common factor behind all of the candidates with Brendan Rodgers reviving the careers of players who looked ready to move on to make way for the new broom coming into town.

Amazingly the team that beat Aberdeen on Sunday contained just one Rodgers signing, Moussa Dembele, with the Irishman able to get much more out of the players who looked flat out last season.

With the January transfer window round the corner there is bound to be fresh competition coming in, whoever the new arrivals are they’ll need to go some to get a place in the side that Brendan is building.

MIKAEL LUSTIG

Looked really washed up last season, it looked ominous when he was taken off injured before half-time in Sweden’s opening Euro 16 tie against Ireland.

The arrival of Cristian Gamboa added extra pressure to the picture with Lustig in the final season of his contract.

Lustig has taken all the challenges in his stride, reduced his attacking charges up the park and become an essential component of a very changeable defence.

Playing at right-back will rarely be a showy position but as a steadying, reliable influence allowing the attacking right midfielder to get forward Lustig has been exceptional.

SCOTT BROWN

Whatever it was that Brendan Rodgers told the skipper over dinner during the summer it has worked wonders.

Brown is truly unrecognisable from last season. With a reborn enthusiasm and a manager who backs him there seems little that Brown can’t do.

The Celtic midfielder still enjoys a battle on the park as much as anyone but these days he seems to be more selective.

In Brown’s case it seems that life is beginning at the age of 31 with Celtic getting all the benefits.

JAMES FORREST

Would anyone have noticed if he had slipped away in the summer, quietly out the door with Anthony Stokes or Charlie Mulgew?

The Catch 22 position of never ending injuries contributing to drops in form seemed never ending with the patience of most fans wearing very thin.

From out of nowhere he has found consistency, in form and selection.

A pacey winger with an eye for goal is a priceless asset, one that Rodgers is working so well that Patrick Roberts is struggling to get a look in.

TOM ROGIC

If only he could last 90 minutes! Is there a better player for 60 minutes than the Australian he’d be worth his eight in gold.

After being tried, with mixed results, in a couple of positions Rogic has found his ideal role as a support striker- the fact that he is keeping Leigh Griffiths out the team and Kris Commons out the picture says it all.

Rogic really is putting his own stamp on this position with defenders and midfielders unsure of who should be marking the Australian.

With another six months of development from Rodgers the former West Coast Mariners midfielder looks certain to be a growing influence on the Celtic side.

STUART ARMSTRONG

ARMSTRONGHas forced his way into the side over the last month, taking over from Nir Bitton as Scott Brown’s side-kick in the engine room.

Armstrong seemed to be disappearing down a cul-de-sac last season with the promise of his first few months at Celtic quickly forgotten.

Rodgers has been purring about the midfielder in recent weeks, even to the extent of calling him the Blonde Cafu. The Champions League matches with Borussia Monchengladbach and Barcelona showed up the shortcomings in his game- it seems that he has a manager who believes he can cover that ground.
