Chris Sutton reckons that neither manager can be happy with tonight’s World Cup qualifier at Wembley.

Gareth Southgate’s England beat Gordon Strachan’s Scotland 3-0 but it was hardly a master-class in Southgate’s second game of four in charge on a temporary basis.

Strachan is expected to step down in the next 48 hours with Scotland’s World Cup prospects as rocky as their dodgy back four.

Sutton covered the match for Scottish Television and turned to twitter with his blunt assessment of the match.

Daniel Sturridge headed England in front in the 24th minute but Scotland missed two great chances before the break when Grant Handley headed wildly over the bar from a corner with Leigh Griffiths electing to shoot at goal rather than roll Robert Snodgrass in for a one on one with Joe Hart.

Scotland had two good chances to level after the break before Adam Lalana headed the hosts two in front before Gary Cahill made it a hat-trick of headed goals in the 61st minute to complete the scoring.
