After a fortnight on the sidelines Chris Sutton is bursting to get back into action tonight at Kilmarnock.
At the Ayrshire ground in 2003 the former Celtic striker made some explosive comments about Dunfermline before Jimmy Calderwood’s squad flew out to Spain for an end of season celebration.
It’s unlikely that Sutton will kick up a similar storm tonight with all eyes on whether Brendan Rodgers side can stretch their lead at the top of the table to 14 points over Aberdeen.
Sutton’s upfront punditry has been one of the highlights of the season with his style contrasting sharply with the predictable comments from the BBC with the exception of Michael Stewart who also appears on BT Sport.
Building on Sutton’s popularity the broadcaster is tonight launching Live Scottish Football Extra show at 6.45 which will look at the topical issues of the week.
Whether he is giving his opinion on the issues or creating the headlines himself it’s rarely boring when the former Celtic striker is grabbing the mic.
