The Daily Record has finally informed their readers that Sevco have no chance of playing in Europe next season.

Mark Warburton and Dave King have both spoken recently of the importance of Europa League football to help their troubled finances.

While Hearts and Aberdeen cut back on player spending to ensure that their club is run on a sound footing the Ibrox club have been racking up massive losses in a bid to catch Celtic.

UEFA’s Financial Fair Play rules are designed to protect well run clubs from losing out to basket-cases with Sevco posting going concern warnings in their last two sets of accounts.

Losses of just over £4m are permitted over a three year period with the tribute act £18.9m in the red over that period mainly made up of soft loans to ‘investors’.

Clubs can appeal against that ruling if they can claim exceptional circumstances involved but UEFA aren’t likely to approve of a plea ‘to stop ra Sellik getting ten’.

Explaining the development to their readers the Record spoke to an SFA insider who said: ““I suspect that UEFA would grant special dispensation to them because there have been several instances of other clubs, in similar circumstances, being permitted to participate.

What they would certainly do is ask Rangers to provide independently confirmed, detailed information about their finances as well as their plans to become financially sustainable.”

The SFA would first have to approve the licence application before handing it on to UEFA.

With Stewart Regan under pressure from Celtic shareholders over the 2011 licence given to Rangers (IL) it’s likely that Hearts and Aberdeen will be keeping a very close eye on developments this season which could deny them the chance to earn £3m from reaching the group stage of the Europa League.
