Don Robertson will referee Friday’s match between Kilmarnock and Celtic at Rugby Park.

In his only previous Celtic match this season the hoops drew 2-2 away to Inverness Caley Thistle- the only SPFL match that Celtic have dropped points in.

Last season Robertson was given two low key Celtic fixtures, home matches against Inverness Caley Thistle and Ross County.

Craig Thomson will be the fourth official at the match with Willie Collum in charge of the Sevco v Dundee match at Ibrox the following day.

More alarmingly John Beaton will referee the Betfred Cup Final between Celtic and Aberdeen.

The Lanarkshire based whistler has been fast tracked through the ranks and will take charge of the Hampden showdown on November 27- his first major final

Beaton has a nightmare start to the new season when he awarded Hearts a penalty against Celtic for a dive that later earned Jamie Walker a red card.

On September 27 he caught the fury of Mark Warburton following Sevco’s 2-1 defeat at Aberdeen with the former city trader furious about the award of a late free kick to the Dons.

Last weekend Beaton was at the centre of controversy in the match between Hibs and Falkirk where he sent off Bairns midfielder Tom Taiwo after 25 minutes.

Explaining why they will appeal the red card Peter Houston said: “We’ve told the SFA we’re appealing the decision. Myself and other people within the club think it didn’t merit a red card and it’s up to the powers that be whether we’re right or wrong.

Once they have our appeal the referee will go back to it and have a look. It’s really, really difficult for referees, they have decisions to make in a split second and, at the time, I could not tell but John [McGinn] wasn’t hurt in the incident, he got up straight away, and I hope they see sense.

I don’t think it was malicious, I don’t think there were feet off the ground, there wasn’t any over-the-top stuff, there wasn’t anything that I think could have been seen as reckless and endangering the opponent.

I’ve seen tackles a lot worse than that which have been appealed and won. Hopefully they see it the way I see it and my staff see it.”
