Brendan Rodgers has warned Premier League clubs that they won’t pick up Moussa Dembele for a knockdown £10m transfer fee.

Week by week the young French striker is gaining more admirers as he impresses for Celtic and the French u21 side.

With a four year contract and having chosen to move to Glasgow there are no ‘little problems’ that could force a January transfer through.

Over the last few years Victor Wanyama, Fraser Forster and Virgil van Dijk have left for England with Celtic picking up fees around the £10m mark.

All three have taken quickly to life down south and attracted interest from elsewhere. Wanyama became a target for Spurs and Arsenal with the value of van Dijk rising with each passing week.

Rodgers knows that one day he will have to sell his star attraction but insists that any deal will strictly be on Celtic’s terms.

If he leaves here at whatever point that will be it will be for a record transfer fee there is no question about that,” the Celtic boss stated.

I have worked with players who have gone for a lot of money. Raheem Sterling went for £49million and he was a winger. Luis was an international player and after two years he left a world-class player. So this kid has the potential in value.

Celtic won’t have to worry about players going for £10m anymore. It’s all about the potential. Look at Wanyama for example. People were unsure.

He goes to Southampton, a mid-table Premier League team. He was a really good player when he was here. He goes to Southampton then he jumps to Tottenham. They don’t need that springboard anymore.

With all due respect, I’ve worked with big players, I know the value of big players.

I know the value of young players. If they’re working here, they’re in the best environment they could be in.

We might not have the Premier League propaganda and the money that goes with that, but they’re still top players.

If he leaves here, he can go to the big level. So there’s a value and a market for that.

They’re a premium at those clubs as well. I sensed it when I was at Liverpool. Trying to get a player that might be worth £10m somewhere else becomes £20m when you’re at that type of club.”

Dembele will be in the Celtic side at Kilmarnock tonight looking to add to his tally of 16 club goals for the season.
