Scott Sinclair believes that the Champions League is the key to his international hopes.

Starring against Motherwell and Kilmarnock isn’t likely to make Gareth Southgate sit up and take notice but impressing against Barcelona and Manchester City is a different story.

Moving north of the border has revived Sinclair’s career with the former Aston Villa man taking the step up to the Champions League in his stride.

With English players almost an endangered specie at the top clubs south of the border the Celtic man has the opportunity to gatecrash the international side by making his mark on the Champions League through Celtic.

At this moment in time, if I can get into the England team that would be brilliant and my ambitions are still to play for my country,” Sinclair said.

When my time is right it will come, but at the moment I am just concentrating on playing week by week and every game that is coming in front of me. That’s what I’m enjoying.

If I can keep doing well in the Champions League and playing games then don’t see why I can’t break in. All I can do is concentrate on myself and keep doing as well as I can.”

Sinclair added: “When you are playing every week, you are building confidence and form. When you are not playing, your form goes. For me, that was a big factor. Now my form is back and I’m scoring goals and we are winning games. I can’t ask for more.”

In Sinclair’s favour Fraser Forster was able to play his way into the England side from Celtic although Alan Thompson and Chris Sutton managed one cap between them while in Glasgow.
