Looked really washed up last season, it looked ominous when he was taken off injured before half-time in Sweden’s opening Euro 16 tie against Ireland.
The arrival of Cristian Gamboa added extra pressure to the picture with Lustig in the final season of his contract.
Lustig has taken all the challenges in his stride, reduced his attacking charges up the park and become an essential component of a very changeable defence.
Playing at right-back will rarely be a showy position but as a steadying, reliable influence allowing the attacking right midfielder to get forward Lustig has been exceptional.
