Celis for Celtic?

Celtic have been linked with a move for out of favour Benfica midfielder Guillermo Celis.

According to a report in The Sun Celis is likely to be available next month with Celtic, Dynamo Kiev and Club Brugge credited with an interest in the 23-year-old.

The Columbian internationalist has only made two league appearances since signing a five year contract from  Club Deportivo Junior SA in Columbia.

While Celis for Celtic does have a ring to it it seems unlikely that Celtic would be in any rush to sign a defensive midfielder with limited European experience.

Scott Brown has one of the two places in Brendan Rodgers side nailed down for that position with Stuart Armstrong, Callum McGregor and Nir Bitton competing for the other slot in the side.

It’s likely that there is some form of dialogue with Portland Timbers over Darlington Nagbe but that transfer seems to have retreated a few paces.

Rodgers is looking to bring in a creative midfielder for the team’s visit to Dubai as they prepare for the second part of the season.
