It was certainly a bit different from the usual footballer tweet with Celtic fans delighted by the message from Moussa Dembele after the 1-0 win over Hamilton Accies.
The typical tweet usually praises the lads, praises the fans and covers the usual areas without giving away too much of the real feelings involved. Dembele’s after match tweet was certainly a little bit different.
Dembele has been under a bit of pressure recently with his scoring rate dropping and supporters wanting to see Leigh Griffiths given a chance in the side.
Serve @celticfc colours rather than selfishness, we call that team performance ! The club & fans first, still unbeaten #GreatToBeABhoys
— Moussa Dembélé (@MDembele_10) December 14, 2016
Whether he likes it or not, with the team playing 4-2-3-1, Dembele will be viewed as part of the reason that Griffiths hasn’t been getting a start.
With all of those factors it would have been logical for Dembele to have a shot at goal when he was through one on one on Tuesday night.
Rather than take the glory he rolled the ball to Griffiths who after a poor first touch tucked the ball into the net.
The essence of team work, backed up by the Dembele tweet and lapped up by grateful supporters.
