Cheer up Neil McCann

It’s not been the best of weeks for Neil McCann.

On Monday he dared to suggest that Joe Garner was in the wrong movie with Mark Warburton snapping back the next day.

Warbo, who used to work as a city trader, was unhappy at a cheap shot from a former player who he highlighted as being paid to voice opinions.

Given the way results are going at Ibrox, Warbo will soon be touting himself for media work as Dave King’s patience and generosity finally snaps.

This afternoon McCann was Sky Sports sole pundit at the Motherwell v Celtic match, housed in a gantry next to the Celtic support.

With Motherwell a 14/1 outsider it looked like another hard shift until Louis Moult put the home team 2-0 up at half time.

There was a real element of excitement at half-time in the Sky box as McCann and David Tanner discussed the prospect of a Celtic defeat.

Alas by the time the final whistle blew Celtic had won a thriller 4-3 moving three steps closer to six-in-a-row.

With no sign of an unlimited bank overdraft at Ibrox and HMRC reviewing every payment it looks like there will be more weeks like this for McCann to endure.

According to the BBC McCann received a £500,000 EBT to play for Rangers (IL). It’s believed that HMRC are now targeting the individual beneficiaries to get their cut on the cash.
