Clint Hill has revealed the extent of Sevco’s ambitions- to get close to Celtic!

The summer signing from QPR seems to have forgotten all about #goingfor55 campaign with the reality of life in the top flight seeping into the Ibrox mentality.

An extra £10m of soft loans may be enough to edge in front of Aberdeen and Hearts but keeping Celtic’s lead at the top of the table to less than 20 points seems to be the new benchmark.

Explaining the club’s obsession to The Sun Hill said: “When you’re a Rangers player, the objective is to be close to Celtic — you want to beat them.

We can’t compete with them financially or in terms of European football but, hopefully, we can close that gap as quickly as possible.

They’re unbeaten, so that would be a lovely scalp if we could do that.

If we can give a good solid performance then hopefully it will begin to turn in our favour.”

With Dave King as chairman Sevco will never get an overdraft, a NOMAD or hold a share issue- some of the items that have allowed Celtic to achieve their current position while still paying HMRC in full and on time.

Should the SFA decide to shaft a club that lives within their means to award Sevco a UEFA licence Hill can look forward to competitive football in June as Warbo attempts to get past four seeded clubs to gain a place in the Europa League.

Hill and Kenny Miller, with a combined age of 76, are both out of contract at the end of this season.
