John Hartson has slaughtered Mark Warburton and reminded the struggling Sevco supremo that he tipped the tribute act to finish fourth in the Premier League.

A win for Aberdeen at Ibrox today will leave the former city trader badly exposed at the #goingfor55 slogan becomes as big a laughing stock as his career as a city trader.

Seven wins from 15 matches in the top flight has shown up the limitations of the Londoner who is strong on buzzwords and PowerPoints but badly lacking in the dug out.

It promises to be a miserable festive season for Warbo with Magic Hats in short supply as even the gullible start to realise that he’s not a cross between Pep Guardiola and the legned that is Bill Struth.

Taking aim in The Sun Hartson opened with: “How pathetic was that Rangers performance at Tynecastle on Wednesday night? They were abysmal, from what I could see.

Warburton had players out there who looked so scared and intimidated by the atmosphere it was embarrassing.

But that’s down to Warburton. He’s the manager who spent good money on those players, the man who picks the team.

For me he’s not getting enough from them. They got out of jail with late winners against Dundee and Partick Thistle before being battered by Hearts.

And yet all he did was moan about a goal that was rightly disallowed for offside.”

Looking at today’s visit from Aberdeen he added: “I said at the start of the season I thought Warburton’s team would end up finishing fourth in the league table.

I got slaughtered for that but I’m being proved right. Hearts showed at Tynecastle they have more about them and I expect Aberdeen to do the same today.

If that happens, if Rangers lose back to back games, then Warburton should be a worried man.”

Getting into his stride the Welshman went to town with: “It’s on the pitch Warburton is being shown up more than anywhere right now.

He doesn’t have a plan B and rival managers are getting the better of him.

It’s okay for him to say things must get better but it’s his job to make it better. If he’s got something about him it’s high time he showed it but a home defeat today could be the beginning of the end.”

Despite his horrendous summer transfer spree Warbo believes that he’ll be able to get the funds to bring in a goal scoring playmaker in January- assuming that he still has a job.

Last week at the club AGM he told shareholders that he was managing the biggest club in the country!
