Sevco have taken a massive step closer to securing their marquee signing- Jota.

Mark Warburton recently dropped cryptic clues about signing, for free or on loan of course, an attacking, goalscoring midfielder.

It seemed a tall order to get all of those requirements in one player but according to a report in The Sun Eibar reject Jota could be the man to fit the bill.

The 24-year-old was shipped out to Eibar at the start of the season but after seven goal-less appearances he is on his way back to Brentford.

Sevco would need to come up with a decent proportion of the players wages and convinced the player that moving to Ibrox won’t send his career into a tailspin.

Speaking to The Sun Eibar sporting director Fran Garagarza said: “Brentford have an option to recall Jota from his loan in January.

He’s disappointed that he hasn’t played more games for us and he is within his rights to ask for the loan deal to be terminated.

If the player wants that and Brentford wants that, then it’s up to them and there’s nothing we can do.

He trains well, he is very methodical, calm, correct, respectful and has never had any negative gestures towards the coaching staff.”

With Dave King over-investing in 11 summer signings it’s unlikely that there will be much or any scope for Warbo to bring in new faces in January.

Departures are much more likely with Clint Hill and Martyn Waghorn linked with moves to England in a bid to trim the wage bill.
