Aberdeen trimmed Celtic’s lead at the top of the SPFL down to 21 points after beating Dundee 3-0 tonight.

Niall McGinn was the star of the show with a double as the Dons leapfrogged Sevco to go into second place with the same number of games played.

It was the fifth win in a row for Derek McInnes side who seem to be getting over their comprehensive defeat in the final of the Betfred Cup to Celtic.

Ryan Jack headed the opener just before the half hour mark with McGinn scoring a spectacular goal shortly before half time.

McGinn completed the scoring ten minutes from the end with Ryan Christie getting an eight minute run-out with the points secure.

Sevco can move back into second spot by winning at Motherwell tomorrow.

With the transfer window about to close Mark Warburton’s side have made an embarrassing offer for Jay Alnwick of Port Vale which has echoes of last season’s long drawn out moves for Josh Windass and Matt Crooks from Accrington Stanley.
