Ambrose in demand

Efe Ambrose is wanted by Blackburn Rovers.

According to a report in the Daily Mail the Championship side want to take the defender on loan until the end of the season.

Blackburn are managed by Owen Coyle who has already signed up Charlie Mulgrew and Anthony Stokes.

Ambrose is out of contract at the end of this season which means that a loan deal would end his five year Celtic career.

During Celtic’s successful Champions League group in 2012 Ambrose was a key player in the centre of defence but never recovered his confidence after playing against Juventus straight after winning the 2013 African Nations Cup with Nigeria.

The mistakes have become more regular since then with Brendan Rodgers losing patience after he scored an own goal in the pre-season friendly against Barcelona in Dublin.

Nothing was said in public but Ambrose was dropped for the return match against Astana four days later and hasn’t played a first team match since then.
