Kris Commons looks like seeing out his contract at Celtic.

According to a report in the Daily Record both Aberdeen and Hibs have been able to come up with a suitable offer for the midfielder.

Commons is under contract until the end of this season and remains one of the top earners at Celtic on a weekly wage of around £20,000/week.

Neither Aberdeen or Hibs would be likely to be able to offer half that figure leaving the player with Celtic for the remainder of the season.

Commons recently returned from a 28 day emergency loan with Hibs where Neil Lennon was keen to come to an extended deal.

Hibs are now sitting eight points clear at the top of the Championship and on course to return to the Premier League- without Commons.

Aberdeen were keen to see if they could come up with a deal to sign Commons but after getting Ryan Christie on loan to replace James Maddison there is less need for Commons.

At the end of the season Commons will be available as a free agent with Aberdeen and Hibs expected to be at the front of the queue for his services.
