Anderlecht are believed to be considering making an offer for Dedryck Boyata.

According to a report in The Sun the Belgian giants are keen to add another defender to their squad and have Boyata in their sights.

The 26-year-old has only played in one match this season and is clearly not in Brendan Rodgers plans.

When Ronny Deila signed the defender for £1.5m it was with the belief that Celtic were getting a direct replacement for Jason Denayer.

Boyata’s lack of first team football was obvious from his early days with Celtic as they crashed out of the Champions League qualifiers and failed to win in six Europa League ties.

Injury forced the defender out of Belgium’s Euro 16 plans but while Rodgers has revived the careers of half a dozen Celtic players it appears that Boyata has been written off.

With two and a half years left on his contract it’s unlikely that Anderlecht would match his terms at Celtic meaning that a loan deal is more likely that a permanent transfer.
