Despite reports of his demise SFA Communications chief Darryl Broadfoot has waded into the controversy over Rob Kiernan’s appeal against a two match ban.

The Sevco defender decided to appeal against the offer of a two match ban after being caught on television punching Steven Anderson during the 1-1 draw with St Johnstone.

Rather than come up with a guilty or innocent verdict the SFA’s Independent Panel came up with a not proven verdict.

Using his column in the Daily Record Sutton described the outcome as astonishing which prompted Broadfoot into action on twitter.

According to some online sources Broadfoot is moving on to pastures new.

Whether his intervention in the Kiernan case is a sign that he is staying put or demob happy remains to be seen.

It is highly unusual for anyone involved in disciplinary matters to get involved in online disputes but could signal a new era of engagement from the SFA.
