Kris Commons is a transfer target for Aberdeen.

According to a report in The Sun Derek McInnes is a big fan of the Celtic midfielder and will make a move for Commons if he loses Jonny Hayes to Cardiff City.

Hibs are in talks with Celtic about taking Commons back on loan but a basic wage of around £20,000 a week is impossible for any other Scottish side to match.

While Celtic could pay a substantial portion of Commons wages if he went back to Hibs it’s unlikely that they’d offer their closest challengers in the SPFL similar terms.

Whether Commons would be prepared to relocate to Aberdeen is also an unknown factor although there’s little doubt that at either club he’d make a big impact.

The only certainty is that the 33-year-old is in the final chapter of his Celtic career and will leave the club with many memories- before returning to Celtic Park next season in a red or green and white shirt.
