Matt Gilks wants to quit Ibrox.

According to a report in The Sun the 34-year-old is desperate to return to English football with Wigan showing interest in the keeper.

Gilks is another of Mark Warburton’s summer signings that drained the club’s coffers for very little in return.

In five Betfred Cup appearances Gilks most notable contribution was avoiding a hammering from Celtic in the Hampden semi-final.

Over the last two and a half seasons the keeper hasn’t made a single league appearance with a six year stint at Blackpool the highlight of his career.

With Wesley Foderingham the well established first choice keeper at Sevco Gilks has decided to look elsewhere for top team football.

It’s unlikely that Sevco will be able to get a transfer fee for the veteran keeper but with further soft loans needed in March alongside more costly legal bills every penny is a prisoner for the troubled tribute act.
