Mikael Lustig is expected to sign a new Celtic contract this week.

According to a report in the Evening Times talks about a contract extension are close to a conclusion allowing the defender to stay on at the club he joined exactly five years ago.

After a couple of injury interrupted seasons Lustig has been a regular under Brendan Rodgers- playing as the first choice right-back and covering for Jozo Simunovic alongside Erik Sviatchenko in central defence.

Lustig and his family have settled well in Glasgow although his golf does leave a lot to be desired.

The Swede will join Tom Rogic and James Forrest who have renewed their contracts since Rodgers took over from Ronny Deila.

Talks are also on going with Stuart Armstrong over his contract which runs until June 2018.

The former Dundee United man has flourished under Rodgers but faces strong competition for his place from £2.8m signing Kouassi Eboue.
