Kenny Miller has exposed the extent of the cash crisis at Ibrox.

With five months left on his contract Sevco’s top scorer hasn’t heard a word from the club about a new contract.

Over the weekend Miller, club captain Lee Wallace and Mark Warburton have all urged the board to give the 37-year-old a new deal.

Since Miller signed his last contract Joey Barton, Nico Kranjcar, Joe Garner, Jordan Rossiter and Philippe Senderos have all been given contracts significantly more expensive than Miller’s current deal with Barton and Kranjcar topping more than £20,000/week.

While Warbo, who used to work as a city trader, talks about long term plans and development the reality is that he is living week to week with no idea about funding or budgets.

With five SPFL goals to his name Miller is the club’s all time top scorer in the top flight but that piece of history hasn’t earned him any favours around the negotiating table.

Everybody knows where I want to be,” Miller told the Daily Record on Saturday. “It’s not really in question.

Whether it happens or not is out of my hands. I’ve spoken to the manager on a few occasions so I know his thoughts on it. We’ll see where it goes but I want to be here.

The manager wants me here but football is a funny game and nothing would surprise me now.

My loyalties to Rangers are not in any doubt. I’m fully committed to this club and will be for the rest of this season with my performances, whether I’m staying or not.”

With real Rangers men on the board and the highly efficient Stewart Robertson in charge of the day to day finances it seems incredible that Miller has to go public with his contract worries.

After pushing the boat out in the summer it seems that the consequences of #goingfor55 are coming home to roost.
