Barrie McKay’s dream move to RB Leipzig seems to have died a death- less than 24 hours after claims of a £6m bid coming in for the Sevco starlet.

Player sales from Ibrox have been on the low side over the last few years, while Celtic have been bringing in close to £50m from selling Victor Wanyama, Virgil van Dijk, Gary Hooper, Ki Sung Yeung, Fraser Forster and Stefan Johansen only a £200,000 cheque from Brentford for Lewis MacLeod has reached the cash strapped Ibrox side.

Tales of interest in Martyn Waghorn and Lee Wallace have fallen by the wayside but this morning there was a claim from the Daily Record about the £6m man- Barrie McKay!

After 15 top tier matches and a run out against RB Leipzig in a friendly it seems that the German side were set to swoop for the Ibrox winger.

By mid-day Sky Sports had received confirmation from Ibrox that no bids had been received, later, more tellingly an official from the German side dismissed the story entirely.

With 18 months left on his contract a bid of £1m would be hard for Sevco to turn down, by summer time half that figure should be enough to secure the signing of the one success of Mark Warburton’s 18 month reign.
