Brendan Rodgers picked out Dedryck Boyata for special praise after Celtic’s Scottish Cup win over Albion Rovers.

The defender was making just his second appearance of the season, like his other first team start he helped keep a clean sheet on a plastic pitch just as he had in November at Kilmarnock.

Anderlecht are believed to be interested in the 26-year-old defender who was signed from Manchester City in a £1.5m deal 18 months ago.

Boyata was paired with Mikael Lustig today and while he wasn’t overly tested the defender did enough to impress his boss- and revive an older memory.

Celtic had to wait until the 30th minute to go in front today with Scott Sinclair netting with a dramatic dipping shot.

The League One side were still in the game until the 77th minute when Moussa Dembele scored his 20th goal of the season with Stuart Armstrong completing the scoring in the final minute to earn a fifth round home tie against Inverness Caley Thistle.
