Brendan Rodgers has confirmed that there is life outside of the English Premier League.

Seven months on from taking over at Celtic the Irishman isn’t craving a fixture list that includes matches against Bournemouth, Middlesbrough, West Brom, Burnley, Stokes City, Sunderland and Hull City.

To those whose life revolves around the ups and downs of ‘the greatest league in the world’ it’s hard to come to terms with life outside of the EPL.

Rodgers is genuinely enjoying life on and off the park at Celtic, working with a group of players eager to learn and push themselves in the one area where they can directly compare themselves to the Premier League giants.

The Champions League allows Stuart Armstrong, James Forrest and Tom Rogic to test themselves against the best players in England- and also give their manager a challenge to get his teeth into.

Asked in Dubai about a return to managing in England Rodgers told the Gulf News: “Football is a global game, I’ve been there and I’m happy not to be there now, I’m enjoying a new experience at Celtic, a huge club.

If I go back there one day, great. If I don’t there’s no drama. It’s a global game.”

Explaining Celtic’s priorities he added: “The No.1 target is to win the league in order to have a chance to qualify (for the Champions League) and then qualification second – then third is to get out of the group stages.

It’s never easy because of the finances and everything else involved but it’s a fight and that’s excitement for us.”
