Brendan Rodgers has refused to deny Celtic’s interest in Henry Onyekura.
The hoops were linked with the Eupen striker on Saturday morning with quotes from the player claiming that the two clubs had held transfer discussions.
With just over a week to go in the transfer window all options remain open with Rodgers keen to do business if the right player becomes available.
“No, there is nothing to add to it,” he told The Scotsman when asked about Onyekura. “But we have obviously got another week or so to go. I want to add to the squad to keep the freshness and quality but only if it is the right time and the player is available at the right level of affordability. Then we can look at doing it. If not, I’ll just have to wait until the summer.”
Yesterday’s 3-0 win over Albion Rovers featured Dedryck Boyata and Kieran Tierney who never featured during the intensive December programme.
With Kouassi Eboue expected to make his debut against St Johnstone on Wednesday and Tom Rogic on his way back from injury Rodgers isn’t short of options.
Adding quality to his side for the Champions League qualifiers is the only issue for Rodgers in the transfer market as he seeks to avoid a repeat of the dramatic win over Hapoel Beer Sheva.
Celtic were twice three goals in front before settling for a stressful 5-4 win over the Israeli champs to book a place in the group phase of the Champions League.
