Scott Brown’s dig at West Ham

Scott Brown believes that Moussa Dembele knows where his bread is buttered- and it’s not at relegation threatened West Ham.

The hapless Hammers made a botched bid to sign the striker through an article on their website but never stood a chance of signing the Celtic striker.

If Dembele fancied a relegation scrap he could have taken up any of half a dozen offers last summer when his contract expired.

Rather than compete with Andy Carroll for a place in a side that barely averages more than a goal a game the teenager chose to join Celtic with very clear objectives in mind.

Playing in the Champions League was crucial, being managed by Brendan Rodgers in front of 50,000 plus crowds a welcome bonus.

Discussing his in form team-mate Brown told The Sun: “Moussa has been on fire in the last five or six months.

Fair play to him, he does it in the big games as well and it’s been great for us to have him and hopefully we’ll have him for another good six months or so, anyway.

He’s going to learn a lot more under the gaffer than probably, without being disrespectful, going to someone who is fighting relegation.

The manager has been a great boss, he’s been at Liverpool, and Moussa will learn a lot from him and the coaching staff.”

Dembele is expected to be the subject of more transfer speculation as the month goes on but will remain with Celtic at least until the end of the season
