Even after three consecutive defeats from Celtic Barrie McKay can’t shake off his delusions.

It seems that a 15 minute spell in the first half of the latest derby defeat plus a Kenny Miller shot that hit the post has provided a massive comfort blanket for everyone at Ibrox.

Any rational take on the three matches this season would conclude that Sevco are no closer to Celtic than half a dozen other teams.

Dundee have twice lost by a single goal but no one from Dens Park is harbouring thoughts of giving Celtic a doing.

After a recent win over Aberdeen McKay announced that the SPFL title race was still alive, after losing 2-1 on Saturday McKay is convinced that the hoops were lucky to escape without embarrassment never mind three points.

We have a great squad and a lot of great talents in the team,” he told The Sun. “I think we proved we can match them and if we had taken our chances it could have been a different game.

I don’t think the gulf is as big as people make out. I think if we took our chances we could have given them a doing.

They took their chances in the last game and scored five. If we had taken our chances at Ibrox and kept them at bay, I think we could have done the same to them.”

Football is indeed about taking chances, on Saturday at Ibrox Celtic created and missed much more chances that McKay’s pals.

On March 11 Bazza will get the chance at Celtic Park to get the win that he feels his team deserves.
