Wacky Lee Wallace wants Kenny Miller to lead Sevco’s Champions League campaign!
Showing complete contempt for Aberdeen and UEFA Financial Fair Play regulations Waldo is hoping that Miller’s five SPFL goals are enough to earn the 37-year-old a new Ibrox contract.
With huge money committed to deals for Joey Barton, Nico Kranjcar, Jordan Rossiter, Philippe Senderos and Joe Garner the Ibrox club will have to turn to crisis loans in March to see out the season.
Only Senderos is out of contract at the end of the season with no sign of contract talks starting for Miller who is being paid a third of the money that Garner is bagging.
As if the financial picture wasn’t bad enough starlets Fraser Aird and Tom Walsh were paid off last week.
Despite that bleak picture Waldo wants to see Dave King splash the cash to stop Celtic making it seven-in-a-row with Miller scoring the goals to get through four rounds of Champions League qualifiers.
Speaking to the Daily Record the man that lifted last season’s Petrofac Cup said: “We need to feed off his (Miller’s) ambition and desire day in, day out to be the best we can, to get successes back to this club and get the fans coming back here on Tuesday nights and listening to the Champions League music.
“Kenny’s had that in stages of his career and hopefully that can happen and his contract can be secured in the next few weeks and we can all move forward and keep winning games of football.
“It is hugely important we keep him. It would be easy to say it’s the old pals’ act and trying to get the message out there we need to keep him – but those are my strong feelings. We’re going to do better as a club if Kenny Miller stays here.”
As well as missing the Hogmanay defeat from Celtic chairman Dave King was absent from Saturday’s Loving Cup ceremony.
Despite various promises King hasn’t invested a penny in the club and hasn’t utilised the AGM vote that allows the company to issue additional shares to existing shareholders.
