A year ago Erik Sviatchenko was a Midtjylland defender in talks about a move to join Celtic.

As 2017 kicks off he has brought a whole new meaning to the phrase Celtic family.

His partner Ann Rudmose has joined the Celtic ladies side and yesterday the striker published a picture of his son William that suggests his first footballing thoughts will be green and white.

William was born in April with Sviatchenko making a dash to be at the birth before returning to help Celtic beat Hearts 3-1 later in the day.

The defender was one of the few players to emerge from last season with his reputation enhansed with that improvement continuing under Brendan Rodgers.

Svoatchenko has been the first pick defender throughout the season partnering either Jozo Simunovic, Mikael Lustig or Kolo Toure.

In his only goal of the season the Danish defender netted a 35 yarder that was enough to beat Partick Thistle in December.
