The English Football League will decide this morning whether to make Efe Ambrose a Blackburn Rovers player.

Despite talks that went on for most of the day it seems that the paperwork between the two clubs and the football authorities wasn’t completed by last night’s 11pm deadline.

International clearance and a work permit would be required with Blackburn due to take their case for the signing to be confirmed to the authorities this morning.

The English authorities have got very clear guidelines on what constitutes a completed transfer and are well prepared for the deadline day rush.

According to one Nigerian based website the paperwork between both clubs was completed on time but neither club was confident enough to make an announcement about the transfer.

The ‘deal’ is a loan transfer but with the defender’s Celtic contract ending in the summer it would effectively be the end of Ambrose’s Celtic career.

Sky Sports claimed that the deal did go through but iut won’t be until later this morning that an announcement can be made on whether Ambrose is a Blackburn player or heading back up the M74 to Celtic Park.
