Blundering Andrew Dallas will referee Sunday’s Scottish Cup tie between Sevco and Morton.

Dallas was at the centre of controversy on Saturday during the Motherwell v Hearts match which left both clubs furious.

Mark McGhee couldn’t believe his eyes when Carl McHugh was red carded in the first half while Hearts were forced into issuing a statement after Malaury Martin was booked.

The Hearts player picked up yellow card for Louis Moult tripping over team-mate Lionel Ainsworth’s foot with Dallas less than five yards away.

Despite the incident making a mockery of the referee the SFA has no mechanism to change the decision with the Hearts player carrying that caution on his record through the rest of the season.

Dallas, from the influential Lanarkshire Referees Association, has rarely been far from the headlines with managers ranging from Kenny Shiels to John Hughes questioning his ability to referee at the top level.

Kevin Clancy will referee Celtic’s Scottish Cup tie with Inverness Caley Thistle, Craig Thomson is in charge of Dunfermline v Hamilton with Steven McLean refereeing St Johnstone’s home tie against Partick Thistle.
