Steven McLean will referee Celtic’s Scottish Cup tie against St Mirren on Sunday.

It’s his first Scottish Cup tie involving the hoops since his infamous ‘handling’ of the 2015 semi-final against Inverness Caley Thistle when he failed to see Josh Meekings handle a net-bound header from Leigh Griffiths.

Despite turning the Scottish game into a laughing stock with that mistake it has had no effect on McLean’s career path- last season he took charge of the Scottish Cup Final between Hibs and Sevco.

In his most recent Celtic match McLean gave a number of baffling decisions during the Rangers v Celtic match at Ibrox in December.

Referring recently to that match Brendan Rodgers said that he was bamboozled by one of McLean’s decisions.

Willie Collum will be the fourth official at Sunday’s Scottish Cup tie with next week’s Glasgow derby likely to be refereed by Collum or Craig Thomson.

Sevco’s cup tie against Hamilton Accies on Saturday will be refereed by John Beaton.
