Five weeks after his side’s 2-1 win over Sevco at Ibrox, Brendan Rodgers has spoken out about one of the strangest decisions of the season.

It didn’t result in a goal, penalty or sending off but highlighted just how out of touch match officials can be.

With the home side in possession the ball was switched from the left to the right but overhit. The Sevco player was clearly off the park when he returned the ball half heartedly onto the pitch.

As Emilio Izaguirre knocked the ball forward Scott Sinclair was in a promising position when the linesman decided to raise his flag- for a Sevco throw in!

No Celtic player got near the ball but the linesman raised his flag with Steven McLean in agreement as Sevco were awarded a throw in.

Reflecting on refereeing decisions today Rodgers recalled: “I have seen a decision in the Rangers game after eight minutes which bamboozled me.

“The ball was kicked out by a Rangers player and we are away on goal and they get a throw-in. I don’t know how that worked. That’s pressure. They are good guys, they are all doing their best.”

Craig Thomson was the referee at today’s match, awarding Celtic a bizarre penalty from which Moussa Dembele equalised from on route to a 5-2 win.
