It’s no surprise when Moussa Dembele picks up another man-of-the-match award but even the free scoring striker must have been highly impressed by Cristian Gamboa.
Making his first appearance since a 12 minute run out against Hearts at the end of January the former West Brom full-back would have been man-of-the-match for many supporters.
Gamboa has looked neat and tidy when he has played so far with his main contribution appearing to be pushing Mikael Lustig’s game to a new level.
Today the 27-year-old was an essential part of Celtic’s play especially during the second half when he seemed to be the regular outlet ball.
With things tight in midfield, Hamilton closing down tightly on Scott Brown and Nir Bitton, the ball was regularly pushed out wide to Gamboa.
There’s nothing that he likes doing more than haring forward but there was more to his game today as he linked up with more attacking players and carried on pushing forward.
Lustig will return to the side and remain first pick but in Gamboa Brendan Rodgers has got more than just a deputy or back up player.
There will be tougher tests, the Costa Rican’s biggest test was away to Borussia Monchengladbach, but so far Gamboa has did everything asked of him and it looks like there’s plenty more still to come.
