Kolo Toure has confirmed that he wants to move into coaching and management but isn’t ready to hang up his boots just yet.

Brendan Rodgers signed the defender from Liverpool at the start of the season but over the last four months he has barely featured in the first team.

The Celtic boss has praised Toure’s attitude to training and hinted that he’d like to add the former Arsenal defender to his backroom staff.

Despite losing his place in the Celtic side the 35-year-old hasn’t let his enthusiasm dip as he gently shifts his focus towards a future in coaching.

Since I started my career, at any club I’ve been at, the managers have all said ‘Kolo, you are going to be a manager one day!’” the defender told the Celtic View.

When I go home I only watch football channels. I have about 200 channels but I only watch games every day.

“When I wake up, first thing I want to know is what game is going to be on.

I have my ‘B’ licence and I’m looking forward to doing my ‘A’ license. I started the ‘B’ licence when I was at Liverpool.

“My thinking right now is to keep learning as a coach, but, of course, I still want to play.”

With Dedryck Boyata re-emerging into the first team Toure’s top team chances have reduced even further, typically Boyata credited the support of his former Manchester City team mate as one of the reasons for his return to the Celtic side.

Toure’s last appearance in the Celtic side was at the start of December in the 4-3 win over Motherwell at Fir Park.
