Jim Duffy has admitted acting immaturely during Morton’s draw with Hibsbut has denied wanting a ‘square go’ with Neil Lennon.

Passions blew up in stoppage time when Morton’s Kudus Oyenuga committed a horror ‘tackle’ on Jordan Forster right in front of the Hibs dug-out.

As Lennon shouted his anger and frustration at the incident Duffy and a number of Morton players confronted the Hibs boss.

Duffy is known as one of the nicest guys in the game let his emotions get the better of him and later claimed that if any punches had been thrown ‘ you would know about it’.

The Scottish Parliament haven’t called for a summit yet but both clubs seem certain to be called in front of the SFA to explain themselves.

Reacting to this morning’s coverage of the events Duffy released a statement on the Morton website saying: “Firstly, I would like to say that I watched the footage on television last night and, from my point of view, I was embarrassed when I saw my reaction.

“I am not going to get involved in a public debate with the Hibs manager, but what I would state is that I categorically, 100 per cent did not ask for a ‘square go’ or use anything even remotely like that term. Yes, I acted immaturely – but I’m not 12 years old.”

Morton face Hibs next Saturday at Cappielow, even if the managers are banned from the dug out the directors box is certain to see some fireworks.
